If by "soil" you mean a form of substrate such as rockwool or grodan, and I'd recommend it be deeper. Roots are light sensitive and it's best to keep them in the dark.Hydroponic systems are made avoiding soil as a grow medium. From what I've gathered four floods a day is standard and just one might run the risk of drying out your root system. If you want to explore hydroponics you could try a deep water culture or shallow water culture. They are simple to setup and effective. |
